Description

In 2022–23, I collaborated with a team of UC Irvine students from engineering and biology, together with Orange County Environmental Justice (OCEJ), to produce two short videos addressing soil lead contamination in Santa Ana, California.

The project was part of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Environmental Justice Video Challenge for Students, a national competition encouraging interdisciplinary teams to communicate environmental justice issues through short films.

Our team won both phases of the competition, producing videos that combine environmental health research, historical analysis, and community engagement to raise awareness about the persistence of lead contamination in urban soils.
